Volunteer
- Volunteers come from variety of diverse backgrounds and ages from many organizations and communities in Southeast Michigan. There is no special training needed.
- Junior High and High School students join us to fulfill their school's Community/Christian Service requirement. PBJ is a recognized provider of community service hours. Many have continued to volunteer on a regular basis.
- Individuals and families are invited. Children are welcome (+7), when accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
- Groups (10 or more) need to be scheduled and are asked to contact PBJ prior, to arrange the date. We want to ensure we can accommodate the volunteers and ensure a positive and rewarding experience. If you are interested in bringing items to pass out or donate, please provide that information at time of contact.
- Please note: Transportation is not provided by PBJ to the Detroit locations.

Did you know...
PBJ collects and distributes clothing to the needy in Detroit in addition to providing food?
We do, and the simple truth is, we need dependable, consistent, reliable adult volunteers to assist with various tasks to continue our efforts. Can you help? We are looking for individuals who can assist with any of the following, on an ongoing, predictable basis (we are specifically looking for individuals who are self-starters, able to jump in where and when needed):
- Wednesday and Thursday evenings each week, 7-9 in the basement of the Parish House (there is some flexibility as to timing for regular, reliable volunteers):
- Acquaint volunteers with procedures, organize them, make sure things get done
- Empty bags of donated clothing & segregate
- Sort, fold, label and pack (or store) clothing
- Pack hygiene kits
- Two Thursday's per month, assist with loading the rental truck
- Pick up clothes from Parish House and deliver or coordinate pick up with Core City (St Casmir), Archdiocesan Prison Ministry, Vista Maria, Operation Get-Down, Purple Heart, or a variety of other locations we serve.
- Periodically (2 or 3 times per week) pick up clothing in bins outside of the OLGC Adoration Chapel and deliver to garage of the Parish House
- Each week we pick up bread from local vendors (usually Entenmann's Thrift Shop) and deliver to church kitchen so it is available for Saturday morning food preparation. We are looking for people who can fill-in on an as-needed basis.
- Order/purchase new clothing as needed: socks, underwear, gloves, jeans, coats, hoodies and sweatshirts, hats, toilet tissue, toiletries (some can be ordered online). Deliver to the parish house. Must be a "shopper" not a "buyer"!

It's habit forming!
